An old faithful Magnatilla decided that it was going to spiral into the ground at the start of this month. Everything was working, radio and surface wise, but it crashed. On analysis and debate of this one we reached the conclusion that it had stalled into a spin. There was insufficient height to recover as it was on a landing approach. Now this one is a slow flyer to start with but it seems the speed was dropped off on the downwind leg which can be fatal, if anything you need to increase your speed downwind to maintain the air speed and lift. Being slow and dropping the wing to turn sent it into the death spiral. Easily done, after all this is the basics of entering a spin, and one to remember.
